Lynissa Stokes

Personal Biography

Lynissa R. Stokes, Ph.D. is a Research Scientist at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine. She earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Boston University and completed a two-year NICHD-funded postdoctoral fellowship, Adolescent Research in Community, mentored by the training director, Elizabeth Miller, MD, Ph.D., FSAHM. Dr. Stokes serves as co-investigator of a Chancellor’s Office funded project, Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Survivor Support on Campus, led by Carrie Benson, MEd, Senior Manager for Prevention and Education. Prior to transitioning to a career in research, Dr. Stokes worked as a clinician, primarily in community mental health settings, providing individual therapy to adults diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness and to adult survivors of intrafamilial abuse, relationship abuse, and sexual assault.
