I am a fifth-year doctoral student in the middle of my dissertation study on racial equity in informal learning organizations. I have experience working in a variety of informal learning settings, from museums to afterschool programs, and am motivated to explore how these organizations function and, more specifically, how they approach racial equity. My hope is for my work to motivate change and bring about greater attention to racial equity within organizations and the role organizations play in maintaining or disrupting racial inequity. I am particularly interested in the way meaning-making systems within individuals and their organizations may support or hinder this work. I am excited to pursue a career in academia and the greater field of education after graduating.
